SAGA Warband Showcase

Posted by Simone Render on

I began this series of articles in hopes of convincing gamers that might not otherwise have given SAGA a second glance to give this fantastic game a try. I've tried to showcase the exciting historical backdrop, the great models, and the truly innovative game itself. Beyond a game though, SAGA is also a great hobby, and this final instalment is all about showcasing that aspect of the game. Modelling and painting miniatures can be an immensely satisfying experience. It takes time and effort, but the end product is uniquely yours, a product of research, skill, and your own personal touch...

Assembling a SAGA Warband

Gripping Beast's plastic Swordpoint and SAGA miniatures are a great cost-effective way to get into the game, but the sets arguably do not provide quite as wide a variety of cool units and poses as GB's excellent metal miniatures do. With that in mind, this week's installment looks at some of the awesome ways in which one can assemble and modify the miniatures from these sets to build a more interesting and varied warband. Of course, the Muslim peoples of the region, known collectively in the West as the Saracens and Moors, were equally certain that Allah would assure them of victory. This unshakable faith on all sides of the conflict lead to almost 200 years of losses and...

The Factions of SAGA (Part Three)

This week we are looking at the last of the Dark Ages expansion books to date "Varjazi and Basileus", which focusses on the peoples and factions of Eastern Europe during the Dark Ages. A lot of emphasis is usually placed on the activities of the Vikings in Western Europe, but it is less well known that they also played an enormously important role in founding Russia, and in linking Western Europe with the vastly different cultures of Byzantium, the Islamic Caliphates and even beyond towards Asia. This rarely explored corner of the Dark Ages is truly fascinating, and the factions...
